What is Business Performance Management?

Business performance management consists of a set of management and analytic processes, supported by technology, that enable businesses to define strategic goals and then measure and manage performance against those goals.

Core business performance management processes include financial planning, operational planning, business modeling, consolidation and reporting, analysis, and monitoring of key performance indicators linked to strategy.

Business performance management involves consolidation of data from various sources, querying, and analysis of the data, and putting the results into practice. Would you like us to look over your business performance?

Gazegill Organic Farm Case Notes

Lower Gazegill Farm is a melting pot of activity – innovation and ideas oozing out of the minds of the energetic Ian and Emma (the younger generation of the Robinson Family living on the farm), who are aiming to ensure the sustainable future of the farm.

Emmas Organic Dairy Herd produces milk daily – of which only a small proportion was sold profitably (directly) as ‘EmmasDairy’ branded milk. The farm has opened a farm shop that has good trade, but we realised at our first meeting there was massive scope for improvement and growth.

Ian has plans for a farm to fork cookery school…Emmas family have been part of the community for so long, the charitable work continues in a recently formed Gazegill Education CIC enabling adults with learning difficulties produce food, the farm has invested in solar PV, and they have just had a wind turbine erected….there are many plans for expansion, many plans for profitable growth – we agreed to provide on-gong coaching to provide focus and training to realise this business’ growth in the long term.

We have identified an opportunity to grow the business sustainably, and retain the family feel. Through initial consultation Ian and Emma realised that a structured innovation plan was needed, and a step change in the strategy was required to ensure a sustainable future for the Farm. They are well respected leaders of staff and volunteers, and their team respect and value their leadership style.  To further support business growth the team will benefit greatly from targeted training.

The growth challenges we identified Gazegill face are:

  • Reducing reliance on reactive sales
  • Recognising the need to become more strategic
  • Communicating their ‘message’ better to the marketplace
  • Gaining deeper market penetration
  • Ensuring focus where many ideas are possible, but time and resource is limited

Website, point of sale and social media development and support are being provided to compliment coaching and training.
